Learn how RetroTD handles player data, analytics, and privacy.
Version: 2026-10-30 · Updated: 2026-10-30 12:44:47
Last updated: 30 October 2026 RetroTD is operated by Tim Vriend. This policy explains how information is handled when you use the RetroTD game, website and related online services, including the Unity-based version of the game. For privacy questions or requests, contact **tim@timvriend.nl**. ## Playing without a website account You can play RetroTD without creating a website account or providing an email address. This does not mean that no data is processed: the game uses installation and player identifiers, and online features communicate with RetroTD servers. Advertisements and consent services may also process technical information as described below. ## Information RetroTD processes **Installation and player identifiers.** The game uses an installation identifier and player identifiers to associate an installation with progress, synchronize data, deliver rewards, and prevent duplicate transactions. These are pseudonymous identifiers: they do not themselves contain your name or email address, but they can distinguish an installation or player and can be associated with an account when devices are linked. We therefore do not describe identifiable installation-level records as fully anonymous. **Account and profile information.** If you use a RetroTD website account or account-linking features, we process information such as your email address, username, account identifier, linked installation identifiers, and authentication information needed to maintain your login. Linking may use temporary pairing codes or links. Linked installations and gameplay information can then be associated with the same account. **Progress and gameplay.** Information may include saved runs, maps, waves, scores, enemies defeated, currency balances, research levels, ranks, challenges, rewards, and game settings. Some information is stored locally; some is sent to RetroTD servers for synchronization, recovery, leaderboards and other online features. **Gameplay analytics and diagnostics.** RetroTD records events such as game starts, progress updates, game endings, research actions, reward events and use of game features, together with installation or player identifiers, timestamps, game version and build, and platform information where applicable. We use these records to understand gameplay, improve balance and reliability, investigate errors, and detect inconsistent or duplicate progress and reward operations. These records may be associated with a linked account. Aggregate statistics may also be produced from them. **Purchase and reward records.** For in-app purchases, we process product identifiers, transaction and verification information, purchase or reward status, and associated installation or player identifiers. Purchase analytics may include price, currency, storefront country and platform. We also process rewarded-ad completion records and advertising revenue information, such as the advertising network, placement, format and reported revenue, to deliver rewards, reconcile transactions and understand game revenue. Apple handles payment processing for purchases made through Apple's In-App Purchase system. RetroTD does not receive your full payment card details or billing information from Apple. On Android, Google Play handles payment processing. RetroTD verifies purchase tokens with Google Play and keeps delivery records to credit purchases once and recover interrupted deliveries. RetroTD does not receive your full payment card details from Google Play. **Push notifications.** If you enable notifications, we process the Apple push token, notification preferences, and the installation or player information needed to send notifications such as inbox updates. You can disable notifications in the game where available or in your device settings. Disabling notifications does not automatically delete other progress or account data. On Android, notifications use Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM), including a registration token and Firebase installation information used to address an app installation. RetroTD associates notification registration with the current installation/account context and notification preferences. Google processes technical information needed to provide the messaging service. Using FCM does not itself mean that RetroTD uses Google Analytics for Firebase. **Website and service access.** Requests to the website and online services expose technical information such as IP address, request time, requested address and browser or app information. Server logs may record this information for service operation, security and troubleshooting. The website uses session cookies to maintain sessions and login-related functionality. Disabling cookies may prevent those features from working. The website also loads some resources from third-party content delivery services, which receive the technical information needed to deliver those resources. **Support correspondence.** If you contact us, we process your message, contact details and any information you choose to provide in order to respond and investigate your request. ## Public profiles and leaderboards Display names, ranks, scores and other information shown in public profiles or leaderboards can be visible to other people. Avoid using personal information in a public display name. Email addresses and authentication credentials are not intended for public display. ## Advertising and consent RetroTD offers optional rewarded advertisements. The current integration uses Unity LevelPlay (ironSource), Unity Ads, Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP). Which advertising network serves an advertisement can vary. Advertising and consent providers may process IP addresses, approximate location inferred from IP address, device or app identifiers, app and device characteristics, consent choices, advertising interactions, performance information and diagnostic data. Processing depends on the provider, app version, region, device settings and applicable consent choices. Providers use information to deliver and measure advertisements, operate and secure their services, prevent fraud and perform analytics; personalization depends on applicable permissions and configuration. The game uses UMP to check whether a consent message is required before requesting advertisements. Where the consent service requires a privacy-options entry point, **Privacy options** is available in the game's Store so you can reopen the relevant form. This option may not appear where the consent service does not require it. Available choices and messages can differ by region. Advertising consent and Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) permission are separate. On Apple devices, access to the advertising identifier (IDFA) requires ATT authorization. Some app versions or configurations may present an ATT request; this policy does not mean that every version displays that prompt. Without ATT authorization, the IDFA is not available to the app. The absence of an ATT prompt does not mean that no technical or advertising data is processed. Read the providers' privacy information for further details: - [Unity privacy policy, including advertising services](https://unity.com/legal/privacy-policy) - [Google privacy policy](https://policies.google.com/privacy) - [Google advertising privacy information](https://policies.google.com/technologies/ads) - [Apple privacy policy](https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/) RetroTD does not sell personal information. Advertising providers' processing is described separately above; this statement does not mean that no data is shared with those providers. ## Why information is processed and who receives it RetroTD uses information to provide game and account functionality, synchronize and recover progress, deliver purchases and rewards, operate public rankings, send requested notifications, respond to support requests, maintain security and reliability, and understand gameplay and revenue. Information is processed by RetroTD's hosting and service infrastructure, by Apple for platform services such as purchases and push delivery, and by the advertising and consent providers described above. Public leaderboard and profile information is shared with other users as described above. Information may also be disclosed where necessary to comply with applicable legal obligations or protect the service against fraud or abuse. For the Android app, Google also provides Google Play purchase processing and verification and Firebase Cloud Messaging notification delivery. See [Firebase privacy and security information](https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy) for information about the messaging service. Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, processing relies on providing the services you request, legitimate interests such as service security, reliability and proportionate analytics, consent where required for advertising or device access, and applicable legal obligations. You may contact us about the basis for a particular processing activity. Providers may process information in countries outside your own; their policies explain their locations and applicable transfer safeguards. ## Storage and retention Local game data remains on your device unless removed or replaced by the game or operating system. Uninstalling the game does not necessarily delete server-side progress, account records or identifiers retained by platform storage. Server-side data is kept for as long as needed for the purposes described in this policy, including maintaining progress and accounts, resolving support requests and transactions, preventing fraud, and meeting applicable legal obligations. Retention depends on the type of record and the purpose; deleting an account may not require immediate deletion of records that must be retained for those limited reasons. ## Your choices and requests Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on consent. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing already carried out lawfully. To request account deletion, use **Delete account** at the bottom of the in-game Profile or visit [the account-deletion page](https://retrotd.timvriend.nl/account/delete.php). Requests are handled manually within 30 days. The page explains how to follow the request using a private status link; you can optionally provide an email address for completion confirmation. Deletion applies to the linked account and associated progress across linked installations. Some limited records may need to be retained for the transaction, fraud-prevention or legal purposes explained above; any applicable retained categories and reasons will be explained when the request is completed. Uninstalling the game alone does not submit a request. For other privacy rights or help with a deletion request, email **tim@timvriend.nl**. Provide enough information to identify the relevant account or installation; do not send your password or payment card details. We may need to verify ownership before acting. Deletion of progress or account data can be irreversible. You may also contact your local data-protection authority, including the Dutch Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, about a privacy concern. You can manage notifications and available tracking permissions in your device settings and advertising consent through the in-game privacy form where available. Turning off notifications, declining advertising consent or uninstalling the game does not itself submit an account-deletion request. ## Children An email address is not required to play. Technical, gameplay and advertising data may nevertheless be processed as explained in this policy. If you believe a child has provided personal information that should be removed, contact **tim@timvriend.nl** so we can investigate and handle the request. ## Policy changes and contact We may update this policy when the game, service providers or processing practices change. The date above identifies this revision. **Tim Vriend — RetroTD** Email: **tim@timvriend.nl** Website: **https://retrotd.timvriend.nl**
